Catalytic Converters

Is your “Check Engine” or “Service Engine Soon” light on? If so, there may be a problem with your catalytic converter.

Your Car-X Man can check your vehicle’s diagnostic codes to determine whether there is a problem with your converter or O2 sensor, or if something else is going on (like misfiring spark plugs).

At Car-X Tire & Auto, our certified technicians use top quality parts and service that are second to none, and we will service your vehicle to ensure everything is working the way it should.

Understanding how catalytic converters work…

The catalytic converter is located in your exhaust system, between the exhaust manifold and the muffler. Harmful gases, like carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and oxides of nitrogen enter the converter. There they react with chemicals and are converted into less harmful emissions like water, nitrogen and carbon dioxide.

An internal combustion engine, like the kind in your vehicle, creates emissions that are bad for the environment. To reduce pollution, a catalytic converter changes harmful gases into harmless ones. That’s why it’s so important to make sure your catalytic converter is working properly.

Understanding how your exhaust system works…

A working exhaust system is complex and is responsible for performing a number of functions. It must carry engine exhaust gases safely to the rear of the vehicle, reduce noise, maintain engine performance, and reduce or eliminate emissions.

Is It Time For New Tires?

Car-X recommends getting new tires every 30,000 or 40,000 miles. If your tire tread is at 4/32 of an inch, it is a good time to consider getting new tires. Anything less and the tire is considered “bald,” and legally worn out in most states.
