We are proud to share the following letter from customer Atlas Laster, about an experience he had at the Kirkwood, Missouri Car-X location.
Car trouble is never just about the machine. It’s about the disruption of a day, the safety of a traveler, and sometimes, a moment of vulnerability. In those moments, the simple honesty of a professional can make all the difference.
Customer Appreciation Letter
Having been satisfied in the past with the service at the University City Car-X, I felt comfortable taking my car to the Kirkwood Car-X for repairs.
There were considerable exhaust system repairs required for my 1996 Nissan Sentra, the cost of which were well beyond my limited Social Security Benefits fixed income. Eric Ashton [store manager] spent time researching the various Car-X promotional discounts available and looked for ways to save me a few dollars here and there.
I was prepared to make an appointment for the day of my June 2012 Social Security Benefit income payment to complete the exhaust system repair work that needed to be done. As Mr. Ashton told me later, the only other customer in the waiting area at the time evidently overheard the conversation. The customer took Mr. Ashton aside and asked to pay the remainder of the repair cost — without my knowledge of their conversation. The customer was totally anonymous to me, never seen before, and will likely never see again.
Shortly thereafter, I returned to Car-X with a formal “Thank You” card for the anonymous customer’s gift, which Mr. Ashton promised to give to his regular customer, the anonymous donor. Clearly, it may be seen from this “miracle” the kind of people that frequent the Kirkwood Car-X location and the “spirit” that reigns there.
Finally, along with Mr. Ashton, Sean Keeley [assistant store manager] was at all times amiable, professional, and courteous. There is no doubt about the quality of work performed on my car by Mr. Keeley, since he is a part of the Car-X team there.
