It is crucial that you be consumer-oriented. You must make the customer feel that you appreciate their business and are fully capable of honestly servicing their vehicle to their complete satisfaction. These “people skills” must be finely-honed. They are called into play every single day in managing your employees, working with suppliers and most importantly, when interacting with customers. Your attitude about customers shines through in your facility as well as in your service. Inside and out, your shop must exude professionalism. Your staff should be courteous and attentive from the time they answer the telephone and first speak with the customer until the repair is completed and the customer is out the door. The customer must know he is dealing with professionals. This is invaluable in generating repeat business plus word-of-mouth referrals, both keys to building sales volume.

Mechanical aptitude is helpful, but not necessarily a prerequisite. Many of our successful franchisees have very different backgrounds. Key traits that Car-X looks for during our approval process for prospective franchisees include a desire to satisfy customers and a commitment to excellence. Each of our successful operators has a deep appreciation for the fact that a satisfied customer is what makes an operation competitive and successful.

A Car-X franchise could be right for you if you’re willing to invest your time, attention and labor, as well as your capital. It’s a hands-on, working situation, not simply a financial investment. Active, full-time involvement is essential.

Car-X will help you learn what you need to know to operate a Car-X Auto Service center. This means you’ll be exposed to many aspects of the business, including training that will be made available to you and your staff. You will be acquainted with the operational know-how, marketing techniques and equipment you’ll need for maximum operating efficiency.


In some instances, Car-X may identify markets in which to locate new Car-X Auto Service centers and then negotiate leases for specific locations within those markets. Car-X may sign corporately on those leases, oversee the construction of the building to our plans and specifications, and then sublease the location to an approved franchisee. In many instances, this process may enable a Car-X franchisee to occupy a better location than if they were trying to negotiate their own lease. In other instances, Car-X may assist qualified franchisees in negotiating their own lease or in advising them about purchasing their own real estate and building. When the building and site are complete, we help you set up the physical operation, laying out the facility from an equipment and inventory standpoint.


During your initial training with Car-X you will learn how to operate a Car-X Auto Service center. Your training will include both classroom and actual “hands-on” instruction. Topics include: shop administration, employee recruitment, vehicle inspection and diagnosis procedures, sales techniques, inventory control, financial management, and most importantly the fine points of maintaining good customer relations.

As automotive technology advances and vehicle repairs become more complex, we assist you in staying up to date with the changes.


As a Car-X Franchisee you will have available a number of important communication resources. Car-X Representatives are available for advice via regularly scheduled in-shop meetings and via telephone. Also available are in-shop and market-wide training sessions, timely product information bulletins, a newsletter, Manager Meetings, and an Annual Dealer Convention.

This buying power that we pass on to you allows you to price your products and services competitively. Car-X’s Marketing Department provides a media analysis of your market and develops television and radio commercials, newspaper and yellow pages ads, point-of-sale materials, and special promotions. These materials and special promotional items are made available whenever media plans and budgets include their use. We give you a powerful jump start by assisting you in your initial advertising and marketing campaigns. Car-X’s expertise will assure professional and efficient media placement.

How do you get started with Car-X? Fill out and mail in the enclosed Qualification Sheet. Once we process your information and see that you meet our preliminary qualifications, we will contact you to set up your initial interview.

During that day, you will learn all about the various aspects of The Car-X Franchise System – from real estate development and financing to advertising and shop operations. That initial interview gives both parties the opportunity to determine whether we’re right for one another.


The initial term of a Car-X Franchise Agreement is 15 years.
The royalty fee paid to Car-X is 5% of gross sales.
The minimum advertising fee is 5% of gross sales, exclusive of Yellow Pages advertising.
Minimum cash required for an initial Car-X franchise is $90,000 with the ability to obtain additional financing.
